Your account details
What Breakerway holds about you, and which parts other people can see.
Breakerway asks for seven things when you sign up. This is what each one is for, and who can see it.
What other people see
Your username. That is it, for now. It is the name shown alongside anything you do on Breakerway, which is why the sign up form describes it as how other people will see you.
Your email address and password are never shown to anyone.
What Breakerway holds
| What | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| First and last name | Identifying you on your own account, and on orders later |
| Username | Your public name on the marketplace |
| Email address | Signing in, confirmation codes, and messages about anything you buy or sell |
| Country | Where you live, which affects delivery and tax |
| Password | Kept scrambled, so nobody at Breakerway can read it |
Your country
This is the country you live in, not the country of the site you signed up on. You can live anywhere and still have an account.
It matters because delivery and tax depend on where a part is going.
Changing any of this
Account settings are not open yet, so none of these can be changed after sign up at the moment. When that changes, this page will say so.
The one thing you can already change is your password, using the reset process, even when you remember the current one.
Selling
You do not need a separate account to sell. Selling is not open yet, and when it is, you will add it to the account you already have rather than starting a new one.
