Breakerway Help

If you forget your password

Resetting your password with a code sent to your email address.

You can reset your password yourself. You do not need to contact anyone, and you do not need to remember the old one.

Resetting it

  1. On the sign in screen, choose Forgot password?
  2. Enter your email address and complete the check confirming you are a person.
  3. Breakerway emails you a six digit code.
  4. Enter the code, then choose a new password and type it a second time to confirm.
  5. You are returned to sign in, with a note confirming the password changed.

Your new password needs to be at least 8 characters. It can be anything else you like.

The screen looks the same whatever you enter

After you submit your email address, you are taken to the code screen whether or not that address has an account.

This is on purpose, for the same reason the sign in error never says which detail was wrong. If the page behaved differently for a real address, anyone could use it to find out who has a Breakerway account.

So if no code arrives, the most likely explanation is that the address you entered is not the one your account uses.

The code

The same rules as the confirmation code:

  • It lasts five minutes.
  • You get three attempts before it stops working.
  • You can request a new one every 60 seconds.
  • A new code makes the previous one stop working straight away.

If nothing arrives, check your spam folder first, then check you used the right address.

After you change it

Your new password works everywhere immediately. Devices you are already signed in on stay signed in.

If you were resetting because you think someone else had your password, sign out on any device you do not recognise after changing it.
