Confirm your email address

After you sign up, Breakerway emails you a six digit code. Entering it proves the address is yours and finishes setting up your account.

You cannot sign in until this is done.

Entering the code

The screen shows six boxes. Type the code and it moves between them as you go. On a phone your keyboard may offer the code above the keys, which saves typing it out.

When the code is right, you see a confirmation and Breakerway signs you in automatically. You do not need to sign in again afterwards.

How long the code lasts

Five minutes. After that it stops working and you need a new one.

You get three attempts at a code. Enter it wrong three times and that code is dead, even if it has not expired. Send yourself a new one and try again.

If the code does not arrive

Wait a minute first. Email is not instant, and most codes that seem lost turn up within thirty seconds.

Then, in order:

1. Check your spam or junk folder. This is where most missing codes are.
2. Check the address on screen. The verification page shows the address the code went to. If it has a typo, that is the problem, and you will need to sign up again with the correct address.
3. Send a new code. There is a button for it. You can do this once every 60 seconds, and the button tells you how long is left.

You can send yourself up to five codes. After that the button stops working and you will need to come back later.

If you closed the page

Go to sign in and enter your email address and password as normal. Breakerway notices the address is not confirmed yet, sends a fresh code, and takes you straight back to this screen.

Why this exists

Breakerway is a marketplace where people send each other money and parts. A confirmed email address means messages about your orders reach you, and it makes it harder for anyone to sign up as somebody they are not.
